The Nepalese name for Everest is Sagarmatha. It is one of the most beautiful trekking experiences you’ll ever have!
There are beautiful villages, gompas(monasteries) and more, but the majority of this hike leads through the mountains. You can find pheasants, wildflower, and tea houses on the mountain.
The major part of the hike will take you through the Sagarmatha National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The high altitude, beautiful scenery, and abundance of wildlife in this area(black bear, musk deer, and more) make hiking a pleasure.
High Atlas Mountains, Morocco
If you’re looking for mountain adventures, you might want to check out Morocco’s rugged High Atlas Mountains. This landscape teems with beautiful flowers, incredible rock formations, and spectacular wildlife. The diversity of the local flora and fauna means that you can enjoy the richness of a region famous for its heritage and tradition of life.
In here lies one of the most famous and iconic peaks in all Africa, Toubkal. This “Roof of Africa” dominates the skyline over Marrakesh and is one of the most popular trekking peaks on the continent.
The Toubkal circuit is a seven-day route that ascends into the Toubkal massif and descends on its northern ridge through a challenging landscape that explores traditional lifestyles of the region
The trek to reach Ifni lake is a little less demanding than most of the grueling treks across the Atlas Mountains. It is a very straightforward hike across often well-maintained trails, past Berber villages, and some ancient Kasbahs along the way.
That said, you’ll want to book well in advance if you want to experience Morocco’s vibrant mountain culture and superb food.
The Tour Du Mont Blanc, France
The TMB is famed for two things – the superbly skilled organization of its trails and the magnificent sight of its mountain peaks.
The Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) refers to the highest peaks surrounding Chamonix, France. You get to walk on some of the most exciting sections of the trail that circumnavigate the 4810 meters-high mountain through France, Italy and Switzerland.
It can be arduous but you’ll be rewarded with beautiful landscapes, huge glaciers, and snow-capped peaks. A sight to behold!
We’re talking a steep ascent to Mont Blanc de Courmayeur in Italy to the well-trodden gradient to Col de la Seigne at the France-Italy border.
You can well expect breathtaking landscapes, delicious food and genuine alpine experiences.
El Misti, Peru
Why trek Peru? Few experiences can match the sheer size and enormity of the mountains of Peru. In the Western Andes, in the northern highlands of the country, lie some of the world’s highest peaks. With their unblemished, almost-pure environment, they offer an unusual sense of remoteness and calm – even at high elevations.
There are some stunning hiking routes along these slopes – to Machu Picchu and the snow-capped peaks of El Misti and Mount Huascaran. It’s no surprise that they are known as the land of (almost) unlimited adventure.
The Misti Volcano is located near the city of Arequipa.
There are two routes of ascent- The Chiguata and the Aguada Blanca routes.
In Chiguata you can enjoy some familiar sights- houses made of stone and clay, as well as a beautiful view of the mountain.
The Aguada Blanca route begins at 4,000 meters near the Aguada Blanca reservoir. The Aguada Blanca route passes through wildlife reserves, and one can continue ascent to the Misti volcano.
The climb to Misti is not very complicated.
However, when you climb mountains and tricky terrain, it is better to have a qualified guide and the necessary gear handy.
Mount Aconcagua, Argentina
Aconcagua is located in the Andes mountains, in the wine-growing region of Mendoza City, where the meltwater of the mountains irrigates the vineyards. The summit of the mountain is only five kilometers from Chile and a regular favorite with both experienced climbers and adventurous newcomers.
It is one of the most frequently climbed high mountains in the world, with more than 3,000 people venturing up the Aconcagua each year. The normal route is most common as it does not require a steep ascent.
However, the second route, known as the False Polish Glacier Route requires experienced mountaineering, with a steep ascent up a
800 m glacier. It is generally considered dangerous to climb the glacier, and it must be crossed by a fairly wide river.
Mountaineering and hiking is a one-of-a-kind experience, after all! You’ve plumbed the depths of glacial valleys and soared across picturesque mountain passes. You would have felt the energy-sapping effects of both the steep climbs and fast descents.
You will have also celebrated your successes on days when you felt on top of the world.
